One of the biggest questions new internet marketers ask is ‘How do I get more Traffic?’
Recently, I have been coming across more and more articles and forum posts on this subject, and it seems that, for a lot of people, it is the biggest hurdle to overcome when they are just starting out with internet marketing.
There is lots of advice going around about how to use:
There are probably more, but that’s enough to overwhelm anyone.
The question is – WHAT WORKS FOR YOU? For as many folks who are asking these questions, there are just as many giving advice. It must be very daunting for a new person who is just starting out.
If you have had great success with any of these traffic building methods, what would YOU advise a complete newbie to do? Think about what you would advise your own son or daughter to do to be successful. Let’s be HONEST about what REALLY works!!
Assume that I have a GREAT SQUEEZE PAGE that converts really well, but I have NO TRAFFIC - what is YOUR ADVICE? What works well for YOU?
I personally use articles and PPC, but then I can afford to buy some of my traffic, many can’t. Articles are free, but a lot of work unless you pay to have them written for you. Again, an investment is required. The trick is to make sure you have a positive ROI (Return on Investment) if you are going to buy traffic. Yes, it’s risky at times, but if it works, (and it does for me) then it isn’t a problem. I make money because my returns from sales offset my investment leaving me with a profit, that I can either pocket or use to buy more traffic.
I am curious about other forms of traffic generation as well.. I admit I haven’t tried many other ways myself. Have You?
Have a GREAT DAY!

Article marketing without any shadow of a doubt is a very powerful tool for using to promote a website. Certainly, if done properly it is an extremely effective method of getting targeted traffic to your site and building backlinks. By using informative articles that are short to promote your site may seem a waste of time, but the actual return on the time you investment can be astounding. But just how does article marketing work?
Initially, it is going to cost you little or nothing, you if you want write your own articles and then submit them to different article directories and other websites. When submitted these sites in turn will then publish them on theirs for you. The benefit is that your site’s search engine rankings will begin to rise because of the backlinks which you have gained because other sites are now using what you have written.
Article marketing is extremely viral since a single article, if well-written and targeting good keywords, can generate dozens and dozens of links back to the author’s site or other designated landing page.
Through your article marketing you as a new website owner or author can develop a reputation in your niche market of being an authority on it. A person who comes across one your articles in an article directory and remains interested so that they click on the link provided and visit your site, provides you now with the opportunity to build a more lasting relationship with that person. The next step then is to cultivate that relationship further by offering them more relevant content which will address certain questions or problems that they may have.
On occasion you may hear that article marketing is not as effective as it use to be. Also by submitting an article to a number of different article directories is only actually helping to create duplicate content, and which is putting your site at risk of the major search engines choosing to de-index it.
Putting aside any arguments for or against duplicate content for the moment, article marketing is every bit as effective as any traffic or promotional tactic touted these days. Various promotional strategies will come and go, but the strength of article marketing lies in the fact that the World Wide Web is built upon and needs fresh, relevant content continuously.
By creating content in the form of articles you will start to attract a steady stream of visitors to your site. Everyday millions of people go online looking for answers. With your articles you can place yourself in a strong position to provide the answers to their questions and convert the traffic into sales.
Article marketing cost you little or nothing as a way for you to promote a product or a website that you have and anyone is able to do it. It is the ideal way of getting targeted traffic to you as long as you are willing to work at it over a period of time and consistently.
Writing informative articles that use well researched keywords no matter what niche you are involved in cannot only get your more exposure, but increase your rankings in search engines. However, submitting the same article to numerous article directories or specialist websites will dilute just how effective your article marketing efforts are.
For your article marketing to succeed you should be aiming to submit unique versions of articles that you write to directories and websites. This may seem somewhat of a daunting task initially but the results you get back will be worth all the effort in the end. Gone are the risks of you producing duplicate content and slipping in search engine rankings. Yet whilst the definition of what actually constitutes duplicate content continues to be a subject for discussion, the majority of experienced webmasters are happy for around 30% difference in each article written.
Yet the greater the difference between each article written, then the better this is for your online business. However, you need to keep in mind that the spiders used by top search engines not only review entire web pages but also will look at other elements on a page and take these into consideration. So even a small 30% change between one article and the next can being more than sufficient to avoid yours being ignored.
Submitting unique versions of your articles is the smartest way to undertake article marketing. Not only are you gaining targeted traffic, but the boost in ranking tends to last longer from backlinks you build through marketing unique articles.

Most people have no idea how to compose a squeeze page that converts into sales. Rather, they throw together components that they’ve seen applied in other squeeze pages – but normally don’t put them together in the same fashion that the owner of the productive and converting squeeze page did.
One major problem is copy. And that’s fine. Not everyone is going to be an excellent writer – never mind a copywriter. But as someone selling a product or trying to build a list, it is important that you know your strengths and weaknesses – and that you either spend the time to overcome them or hire someone else to do it for you.
With copywriting, for example, it is all important to use a mix of persuasive sales points with compelling psychological triggers. Most people who create a sales page miss either one or both of those components.
For example, they may center so much on building hype that they don’t really explain what solution they are offering – and for whom they are providing it. If I don’t have a particular problem that your product solves, why would I purchase it? I wouldn’t.
Now, if they neglect to sprinkle in psychological triggers, such as “scientifically tested,” “guaranteed,” and “shocking,” no one will feel compelled to keep on reading, as the benefits will have a low or mediocre perceived value.
In addition to these two problems, some sales pages lack cohesiveness and focus. The copy looks unprofessional and it doesn’t slowly grind forwards, breaking down the web site’s visitor’s resistance to the sale – and persuading him or her to buy more and more at each sales trigger point.
In addition, if there aren’t numerous calls to action – another form of psychological trigger – then a possible visitor may never feel compelled adequately to pull out his or her credit card on the spot and make the purchase.
When writing your copy it is important to keep focused on your goal and that must always be to get your reader to act on your copy.

So many people get into Internet Marketing believing it’s an easy way to make money. If you have done any research on the subject, you may have been convinced by all the ‘hype’ out there about making thousands of dollars in a matter of days, weeks or months. In reality, very few are succeeding. Some estimate that 95% of new internet marketing businesses fail within the first 3 months.
WOW! That’s huge. Why? Isn’t it supposed to be easy? Well, it can be – IF you know how. There are any number of reasons people fail in this business, but what are the main things that contribute to the high failure rate? Maybe they don’t have the RECIPE needed to bake the successful Internet Business cake?
1. MAKING OTHER MARKETERS RICH:
Have you seen all those sales pages like ‘How I made $7,698.00 in 3 hours’ etc etc …??? Have you then rushed in and bought the product being promoted, that supposedly ‘tells all’ and will show you exactly how to do it yourself? I would estimate at least 75% of you have done that at least once. Am I right? You bet! Otherwise, the marketers selling those products wouldn’t have made those huge dollars in the first place!
Think about it. If you have bought just one of those products, then YOU are the reason they made that money, along with others just like you. Sadly, in a desperate effort to learn HOW to make money online, you are making other marketers rich!
2. NOT UNDERSTANDING HOW IT REALLY WORKS:
Another reason people fail to make any money or very little, is simply a lack of REAL knowledge. When we buy the ‘How I did it’ products, we may learn a couple of things about how others have done it, but what you don’t learn, are the FUNDAMENTAL things that get the dollars rolling in. There are things that other marketers just don’t teach you. They are selling you a product about ONE TECHNIQUE they are using, not the WHOLE PROCESS.
3. NOT KNOWING WHERE TO START:
Choosing the RIGHT way to begin the journey with internet marketing can be a huge hurdle for a lot of people. The Internet reaches people world-wide, right? So why, with all those potential customers out there, can’t you just put up a website, add lots of valuable content, and get sale after sale? It’s probably because there are literally MILLIONS of other people doing exactly the same thing. Your competition is HUGE. If you want to succeed in this type of market, you NEED TO KNOW WHERE TO START! You need to know HOW to market to such a massive audience. It’s an entirely different mind-set to what you are probably using.
4. INABILITY TO IMPLEMENT THE BASICS:
New internet marketers tend to fall into what I would call ‘Technique Overload’. This is such an easy trap to fall into. With all the information gathering, ebooks and other product purchases, getting overloaded with different techniques that ‘might be’ the next best thing to making millions online, is almost inevitable. When you don’t understand the basic principles to establishing an online business, nothing works like you were told it should. Self doubt begins to creep in, and after spending all your cash on other people’s products, you find that you are getting nowhere. Some will continue to go out and look for the next biggest method to get the dollars rolling in, or become so discouraged that they just give up.
5. TRYING TO GO IT ALONE:
Internet Marketing is usually done from home. The promise being that you can work from home part time or full time and stay close to your family, ditch your job and be your own boss. Have the lifestyle you always wanted etc. All this is true, but…. when you are just starting out, you are on your own! You have to find information that is reliable, find out how others are doing it, get the technical know how to do it, buy the tools and learn the techniques. All by yourself! You don’t learn any of this in school. It’s all totally new and foreign. Other internet marketers could help, but in reality, aren’t they your competition? So, to learn how to do this business is a pretty hit-and-miss affair. Some people are naturals, but most will need help and guidance. Finding a mentor that has your interests at heart and is prepared to help you become successful, needs to be a top priority before anything else happens.
CONCLUSION:
It can be a very rewarding, enjoyable and profitable way to make a living. All we really need is the RIGHT advice, a wholistic approach (not just techniques), a mentor to keep us headed in the RIGHT direction, motivation and a mental attitude that supports success.
Get rich quick is a myth. If you are just starting out, be prepared to take it ONE STEP AT A TIME! Learn the basics, avoid the hype, implement the steps you learn – and go BAKE THAT CAKE!

Sure, anyone can create and run an AdWords advertising campaign, but do you have the tools you need to ensure that you are running a successful AdWords campaign?
What stands in the gulf betwixt an AdWords campaign and an AdWords campaign that is a success is dollars, too often it is hundreds of dollars. Ad campaigns that are not a success can burn through hundreds-of-dollars that might be used in other places.
How, then, can you prevent your precious and hard earned advertising budget from being sold to the wolves?
That is easy. Every resource available will be used to manage with care each aspect of an Adword campaign. Choose with care keywords, and carefully consider what to bid on them, and then constantly watch the ads and keywords after the campaign is created to gauge their profitability.
The selection of keywords can be a tricky proposition.
Keywords that bring in the best traffic are those that are broad enough to be used by the general public but specific enough that casual browsers won’t use it. After all the general idea of advertising is to get back the money invested.
For help in selecting keywords for an AdWords campaign marketers can use any of the tools available to them through the Google AdWords site. These tools will help marketers to identify keywords that are frequently sought after as well as to identify their synonyms and other words which could serve a similar purpose.
Often advertisers don’t understand that pay-per-click advertising is basically a great big auction and the person that bids the most will win the prize. In this instance, the person who bids the most is bidding the most on keywords for their ppc advertising. Their ads will show up in the highest spots on the ’sponsored links’ and will be seen first.
Because internet searches have attention spans that are lacking, like a young child with a d d , the information that they are looking for needs to appear to them in the form of an ad with a pointed, clear, and readily available message.
Ads that are hidden in back of pages of results is not going to get the searchers attention like the one that is on the top. However one at the top that gets a lot of unprofitable and idle browsers isn’t helpful either. The balance between the two is tricky.
When ad campaigns are set up a contrast must be made between profits realized from the campaign and costs of running the campaign. Alterations to the campaign or removal altogether of an ad may be necessary if they are not showing a profit.
AdWords has tools which will allow you to carefully monitor how much traffic is coming from your ad to your site and you should have some form of software in place to show you where your customers who are making purchases are coming from at your website.
Advertising campaigns that are managed carefully are almost guaranteed success (well at minimum the losses will be lessened before an adjustment is made to make it more profitable).

In this world you only have two types of assets: Money and Time. The easiest way to drive traffic to your site is to buy it. But if you are an Internet marketing beginner you probably don’t have much money to invest in traffic building. In that case, you will need to invest your time.
The following traffic techniques are time consuming, but they are 100% free and will get you a fair amount of targeted traffic. If your site is properly optimized for monetization, you will soon be earning enough money to invest in buying traffic, and save your precious time to build new money making websites.
So here are 11 surefire free traffic techniques:
This tip is so obvious it will not even be counted, but it is often overlooked: submit your site to the major search engines (Google, Yahoo, MSN) and to as many other search engines as you can.
1. Use this proven Bum Marketing technique, write 5 to 10 articles and submit them to the free article directories. Of course you must include a link to your site in the article itself or in your bio box. The articles should be optimized for a keyword your site is targeting.
2. Find blogs related to your topic and leave useful comments with a backlink to your site. In the same way you could go to answers.yahoo.com, and answer questions related to your site’s topic. Off course put a link to your site in each of your answers. Another thing you should consider is joining the most popular forums that deal with your site’s topic and becoming an active poster. Include a link to your site in your signature.
3. This one can be very powerful. Write a press release about your site and submit it to press release sites such as prweb.com. If you are not familiar with press releases, take some time to do a little research: a press release is not written like an article.
4. If you are happy with a product or service you have used, write an unbiased testimonial and trade it for a backlink to your site.
5. Start a blog on blogger.com and a blog on wordpress.com, link them to your site and submit them to the hundreds of free blog directories. This will get you plenty of quality traffic as long as you keep your blogs updated.
6. Try posting ads with a link to your site on all the free classified ad sites you can find (such as craigslist.com). The best ones will allow you to post a live link. But don’t neglect the other ones. If your ad is well written, people will go out of their way and type your url in their browser. Off course you must post in the appropriate category.
7. An easy way to get extra free traffic is to add a link to your site in your email signature.
8. Start a page on myspace.com and on any other high page rank social bookmarking site you can find. In the same way, go to Squidoo.com, open a few accounts, create a few lenses and link them to your site.
9. Submit a viral video to youtube.com. You don’t really need any video producing know-how as a simple PowerPoint slideshow with some background music will do the job perfectly.
10. Search your main keywords on Google and see if you can exchange reciprocal links with related websites that come up in the top results.
11. You could write an ebook or a short report (say 10 to 20 pages), or find a product with giveaway rights that you can brand with a link to your site. Then submit it to all the free ebook directories you can find online.
This last tip is not free, but is worth the extra buck. Check out the misspellings or variations of your domain name, or those of your competitors. If you find a good available domain, grab it and redirect the traffic to your site.
Now all this looks like a full time job! These techniques work, but you don’t have to use them all at once. Just pick the one you feel the best with and act now. Invest 30 minutes to an hour daily in building your free traffic. Then step to your next favorite technique and within a few weeks you should be earning enough money to afford to buy traffic and concentrate your time and efforts on building your online business.
