This can result in a lot of free traffic to the site – which is what everybody wants and competes for.
Google’s algorithms for including a web site in their listings is forever changing to reflect their mission to present the user with relevant information. As web masters, IM’ers are using both white hat and black hat methods to boost their listings and page rank. Page rank is Google’s assessment of your sites relevance to the search term used to find your site and how useful it is to the user.
Black hat methods are fast becoming highly detrimental to use as Google’s algorithms improve they will remove listings using these methods. So Stay Away From Black Hat Methods supposedly able to increase your traffic and page rank quickly. Your site will be penalized!
As an new web master, your goal is to make your site as search engine friendly and as relevant to your search keywords as possible. Regardless of your product or service, if you want to achieve a high ranking and appear in the first 1-20 listings for search terms, there are some very important steps that must be implemented before you submit your site to Google or any other search engine. You also need to practice patience. Part of the search engine algorithms will be the age of your site. The newer it is, the less likely it is your site will rise to a very high position. Don’t be disheartened by this. Once your site is in the indices of the search engines, you can continue to improve on content and relevence which brings your rankings up gradually every time they re-visit and re-index.
Due to the sheer number of new web sites being created on a daily basis by internet marketers and others, it will take time to get your site listed, ranked and into the search results. Remember your are competing for the best results, it doesn’t happen by itself. It takes know-how and work. Selling on line is a business, not a get rich quick scheme, and if you are to succeed, you must take it seriously and treat it like a long term business.
