If you have an online business, you must be aware how important targeted website traffic is to your business. You need to first get people to pay a visit to your site and then convert these people into your customers. Next you need to convert these customers into loyal customers, but this is not what we are concerned about here. We are more concerned about getting more and more targeted traffic to your website.

One of the ways by which you could increase targeted website traffic to your site is by going for marketing. However, this is an option that not everyone can go for because it requires lots of money. Now if you are just starting out you might feel a little hesitant about investing so much in marketing.

Optimization:

However, there is no need to worry because there are other easier and cheaper ways to get that traffic. First strategy that you can apply to increase traffic is called SEO optimization. You can get a professional to help you out because it is a full time job. Use keywords that are relevant to what you are offering. Next take care to use keywords that people usually use when they are searching for products that you are selling. A SEO optimized site is more likely to attract targeted website traffic than one that has not been optimized.

Optimization does not end with keywords. You need to ensure that your site’s ‘Meta tags’ are picked up by the search engines. You can ensure this by including your keywords, site description and site title in your Meta tags. If your site does not take too much time to download and has all the right keywords, you are half way through achieving your goal of attracting targeted website traffic.

Articles:

Next you should write articles and submit them to major online article directories. Write articles rich in content and offering easy to understand information. Make sure you have your link on every article. Your articles will be picked up by other publishers. Furthermore, readers reading your articles will surely click through to your site. In other words, you will soon see an increase in targeted website traffic to your site.

You can write a press release to get the targeted website traffic. The release should provide information about your business. However, take care that it does not look like an advertisement. Circulate the release in the local media and online new sites.

PPC Campaign:

A Pay-Per-Click campaign can get you the targeted website traffic that you are looking for. Google and Yahoo offer some of the best PPC programs. With a PPC campaign your site will soon be getting top rankings on all major search engines. You do not have to mark a big budget for a PPC campaign. You can do well with a small investment.

Once you try these strategies you will easily see that getting targeted website traffic does not have to burn a hole in your pocket.

The placement and density of your keyword is something you should highly consider when optimizing your articles for the search engines. Search engines send out bots that scan your article in such a way that makes it crucial to position your keywords in spots where they will be noticed and acknowledged as a keyword, so that when a person searches for that keyword, your article will show up in the results.

Definition of ‘keyword’

A keyword is a significant word that you post in your article multiple times. When a spider crawls your article, it recognizes that your article contains your specific word a number of times, which then assumes that your article will be useful to people searching for that keyword.

Optimizing your article too much

Keep in mind that there is a way to over optimize your article. It’s called ‘keyword stuffing’. If you stuff your keywords throughout the article, the spiders will recognize that you are trying to trick them into scanning all your keywords so that you can rank high in the search results for that search term. As a result of doing this, you won’t be found high in the search engines and your article may get removed from the search engines and even banned. I suggest not practicing this method.

Keyword Density

Keyword density means the amount of times that your keyword shows up in your article. Generally, people use a percentage to tell how often they will place their keyword in their article. For instance, if you want to achieve a 5% keyword density in a 500 word article, then your article must contain the keyword exactly 25 times. I prefer to not go over 5% nor under 3%. However, you’ll probably find that many people on the internet prefer different percentages and have a logic behind it, but in the end it’s what works best for you.

The Right Density

Regardless of what amount of density you choose, it’s important to insert keywords in the beginning and ending of the article to produce an hour glass effect. Remember, your article will be a money maker if it has the right amount of keyword density because it will show up high in the search engine results making it highly visible.

If you utilize the methods that I have mentioned above, then you should see your articles gaining top search engine placements. Finally, remember to submit your articles to multiple directories so that you can dominate search engine rankings.

By Aaron Anderson

It is said by some people that article marketing doesn’t work any longer. This could be true if the articles you write aren’t worth reading but you expect them to be read anyway. Article marketing can be a very powerful strategy for promoting your site if you do it the right way. There are three mistakes in article marketing that a very common and they are discussed below.

1. Confusing the reason for writing articles with the reason for promoting your business with articles.

While a number of reasons exist for the promotion of your business using articles, there is just one reason to write those articles.

First lets talk about reasons for promoting your business with articles. Articles drive traffic to your website. They also position you as an expert in whatever field you are writing about. Now those are great and all but it should not be your focus for writing an article. Then why write articles?

Giving value to your readers is why you should be writing articles. Any other motives will stand out like a sore thumb. False motives will turn people away. If you write in this manner, it is best not to bother.

You need to provide value to your readers before they are going to trust you. Then in the resource box you let them know you have additional information on your website.

2. Using less than an article’s full potential.

Alright you wrote an article so what do you do next. Next you should make sure you have an attractive resource box. If you writing great articles but no one is visiting your website that’s not going to do much for you. Give your readers a reason to visit your site.

Using your keywords as hyperlinks in your resource box is a good technique that will increase your articles effectiveness. This will not only have the effect of getting visitors to your site from direct clicks on the links but will help the rank of your site in the search engines indirectly.

Then you submit your article to article to article directories. And then you’re done, right? WRONG.

This is where most people get it wrong. Then you must submit your article to individual web publishers. Most of the people visiting article directories are just people submitting their own articles. Individual web publishers will post your article on their websites or submit it to their lists were actual people will read your article.

3. Writing useless articles that help no one.

Your articles have to be of help to people or two things can happen. Your business can be negatively impacted by either of them.

First, no one will trust you after reading your article. If they even do finish reading it. Chances are they won’t. The likelihood is that they will click away first.

The second problem is that you will have trouble finding anyone willing to post your article on their website. Their reputations are important to them so they will not risk it by posting your article. They know putting a bad article on their site will lose them the trust of their visitors. They won’t give you many links for your article and that would be a waste of your time

Article marketing is far from being dead. It may take a little more time to do it correctly but you will benefit tremendously.
